Doppelter Espresso - Jibb V2 | Chris Derkum
Why does cycling and coffee go together so well?
While it does have its performance benefits, its intertwined biking roots are a little more cultural-based, stretching back to the 1950s when it was seen as just damn cool to hang out at a coffee shop as an open-road racer.
Chris Derkum likes bikes. He works with them day in and day out in his job at SRAM. He likes to ride them hard, day in and day out, all over the world. He also likes a good coffee, preferably a double espresso, for performance reasons.

When he's off for some laps around the trails of Heidelberg, that double espresso gives him the kick-up-the-arse boost to smash out a tonne of high-speed laps. The city's trails offer a thrilling mix of roots and rock, quite the contrast from the soft sandy forests just a short drive to the west. They're often frequented by Germany's top riders as they train for the upcoming season or test out new components.
But for Chris, they're his home trails, and he knows them like the back of his hand. No gap or inside line is a stranger to him. Riding them never gets old, so when all that caffeine has worn off, it's back to the fuelling station to grab another double espresso and head back up for some more.

Chris' grab-and-go bike for home is his Jibb V2. Just enough bike to get away with murder on the trail, but just enough of a voice in your ear to keep getting you into more mischief. It's a bike very off-balance when it comes to industry bandwagons, but it's a mountain biker's mountain bike, and ready for anything Chris throws at it.
Disclaimer: Some humans may need caffeine to function properly. No caffeine required with the Jibb, it comes with its fuel tank always brimmed to the top.
